The Burundi Tourism Week is an annual event held from 11th to 14th December 2024 that celebrates the wonders of Burundian tourism. It includes activities such as conferences, panels, site visits, an exhibition, a photo competition, a familiarization trip (fam trip), a culinary week for restaurants and coffee shops, and a gala ceremony.

2.Who can participate in Burundi Tourism Week?

Burundi Tourism Week is open to tourism professionals, investors, local residents, international tourists, and players from the hospitality and cultural sectors. Everyone is invited to participate, whether to discover the attractions, attend conferences, or join in the culinary activities.

3.Where will the event be held?

The event will take place in various locations across the capital, Bujumbura, and in the province of Mwaro. Key venues include Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika, Royal Palace Hotel, and Zion Hotel Rohero. The exhibition might take place in a strategic location with high traffic, such as Prince Louis Rwagasore Street or in front of the Intwari Stadium.

  • Restaurant & Coffee Shop Week (3-12 December): A culinary week where participating restaurants and coffee shops offer special menus at reduced prices.
  • Fam Trip to Mwaro Province (13 December): A familiarization trip visiting tourist sites.
  • Exhibition Match – Sport for Peace (14 December): A sports match promoting peace and sports tourism.
  • Gala Ceremony and Awards Ceremony (14 December): An evening celebrating outstanding contributions to Burundian tourism, including a mini fashion show.
6.How can I participate in the photo competition?

To take part in the photo competition, photographers must register on the official Burundi Tourism Week website. Once registered, each participant can submit up to 3 photos to be shared on social networks using the hashtag #BurundiTourismWeek and tagging @visit_burundi.

  • Format and size: Photos must be in JPEG or PNG format, with a minimum size of 2 MB and a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
  • Selection criteria: Photos will be judged on creativity, originality, technical quality, relevance to the theme and visual impact.
  • Copyright: Participants retain the copyright to their photos, but by participating, they grant the Burundi Tourism Promotion and Development Agency the right to use the submitted images for promotional purposes without additional compensation.
7.How can hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops participate in the event?

Hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops can participate by:

  • Exhibiting: Showcasing their offers to a diverse audience.

8.How can I become a sponsor of the event?
